BALLINASLOE ENTERPRISE CENTRE:
In 1999 BACD Ltd purchased ‘St Endas’ a former psychiatric hospital building from the Western Health Board. Since then extensive capital works have been carried out to modernise the building to accommodate and encourage new enterprises in Ballinasloe. The building is now a bustling business & community facility, and is currently home to 13 enterprises with over 185 people employed locally.
BALLINASLOE LIFE MAGAZINE:
BACD Ltd oversee the publication and Delivery of Ballinasloe Life Magazine(6000 copies every 2 months), a free glossy magazine that is delivered to every house and business in Ballinasloe. The magazine highlights every aspect and organisation in the town and informs & encourages residents to participate in the many different functions/outings in the town. The magazine is also available in every hotel & guest rooms in the area to promote all events and attractions to visitors and tourists.
BEST: (Ballinasloe Entrepreneurial Skills Competition).
The Competition has been ran for the previous 6 years and is open to 5 local Secondary Schools. The aim of BEST is to promote an entrepreneurial spirit in the youth of Ballinasloe. The students each pitch their business idea’s to the judges in a dragon’s den style competition.
REPRESENTATION/LOBBYING:
BACD Ltd have representation in many key organisations which influence Local and National Government policy including Local Economic Forum, RAPID, GRD, Galway Co Co, Galway County Community & Voluntary Forum, National Association of Community Enterprise Centres(NACEC), Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Retail Excellence Ireland, Westbic, Bord Failte, Waterways Ireland etc
BALLINASLOE TOWN BENCHMARKING PROJECT 2014
The aim of the project is to help guide the town of Ballinasloe and its hinterland along the right path towards positive development and economic success and sustainability. It is being carried out in conjunction with “Action for Market Towns” which is the UK’s national organisation dedicated to promoting the vitality and viability of small towns. Town benchmarking addresses how to understand, develop, evaluate and ultimately improve economic viability of towns.
THINK LOCAL, SHOP LOCAL CAMPAIGN:
An initiative set up to encourage locals to support local business’s
CHRISTMAS GATHERING FESTIVAL:
A FREE outdoor concert in the centre of town to encourage people to support the town.

HISTORY/DETAILS OF BACD LTD:
The main aim of BACD Ltd is to create sustainable employment within your community and the company aims to achieve this by promoting enterprise and supporting projects that will encourage investment into the Ballinasloe area.BACD Ltd is a not for profit entity with charitable status. The Board of Directors are elected each year at the annual general meeting all of whom give their time voluntarily. A company Manager is employed by BACD Ltd to implement the strategic decisions of the board, manage the Enterprise Centre and promote and support local community projects.
